According to the latest studies of a Canadian institute for promoting the use of clean energy resources, about ~ 46.0% of the solar energy is absorbed and remains in the terrestrial surface layer.
The rest ~ 54.0% are distributed as follows:

  • ~ 27.0% is absorbed by steam, ozone, dust and other elements or is dissipated into the atmosphere;
  • ~ 17.0% is reflected by the clouds and 4.0% is absorbed for phase transitions and other processes occurring therein;
  • ~ 6.0% is reflected by the ground back into the atmosphere.
