Heating installation types

It is known that the use of heat pumps is effective in the temperature range from 35 °C to 55 °C. At a temperature higher than 55 °C the heat pump unit does not work effectively, increases the power consumption and reduces the desired effect. If a suitable high-temperature compressor is not installed it is likely that its electric motor will burn.

To protect our customers as well as our designed and installed installations we use components of leading American and European companies. We install high-temperature class screw or reciprocating compressors and tested in practice automatic regulators of leading companies. Management of an installation is performed with a specialized microprocessor controller which monitors the temperature in the house, the outside air temperature and the temperatures of the coolants used in the process. The availability of all necessary sensors involved in managing the whole process of heating/cooling one building and heating water for domestic use leads to optimal use of energy - without overspending.

Radiant heating systems

They are heat exchanger pipes installed in the concrete slabs or walls of heated rooms. The average temperature of the coolant between the inlet and outlet of the installation is usually not higher than 40 °C. In this mode the annual average of the coefficient of transformation of the heat pump unit has a value between 3,5 and 4,8 depending on the type of the heat source and the type of compressor.

Systems with forced air circulations

Fan coil heating units are used, which perform forced air circulation. The average temperature of the coolant between the inlet and outlet of the installation is usually not higher than 45 °C. In this mode the annual average of the coefficient of transformation of the heat pump unit has a value between 3,3 and 4,4 depending on the type of the heat source and the type of compressor.

- This type of heating units is very appropriate for operation of the installation in cooling mode.

Systems with natural air circulation

These are the most popular and familiar to everyone heating installations with aluminum, panel or other radiators. The average temperature of the coolant between the inlet and outlet of the installation must not be higher than 50 °C. In this mode the annual average of the coefficient of transformation of the heat pump unit has a value between 3,0 and 4,2 depending on the type of the heat source and the type of compressor.

- This type of heating units is not appropriate for operation of the installation in cooling mode.


Receiving water for domestic use from the heat pump unit is possible and does not depend on which of the three low-temperature systems will heat the building. It is only required to have a hot water boiler with an integrated heat exchanger coil installed. Synchronization of the process of heating the building and water is provided by the microprocessor control of the heat pump unit with the help of an installed sensor which monitors the temperature in the boiler.


In order to reduce the energy costs the heat pump microprocessor control unit allows easy programming in different modes for all types of heating (heating/cooling) modes.

Most popular are:

  • normal mode – при него се следи поддържане на зададената желана температура на обитаваните помещения и температура на водата в бойлера до 55 °C
  • reduced mode – използва се когато обитателите не са в сградата повече от 2-3 часа. Например през делничните дни на седмицата – може да се зададе режим за поддържане на по-ниска температура в помещенията докато обитателите са на работа
  • function mode “antifreeze” – used in cases where the occupants are absent for a longer period of time - for example, winter vacation. In this case, low positive temperatures from 5 °C to 10 °C are maintained to prevent possible freezing of pipes. In combination with one of the modes mentioned above a desired temperature is set for the hot water in the boiler. The microprocessor controller monitors the temperature in the boiler and redirects heat flow for hot water if necessary.
  • Mode for obtaining hot water for domestic use – in combination with one of the modes mentioned above a required temperature is set in the boiler. The microprocessor controller monitors the temperature in the boiler and reroutes the heat flow for heating water when necessary.
